Our Crackled Footed ceramics are crafted using an ancient Japanese form of firing called "Raku." Raku ware is characterized by beautifully crackled or metallic glazed surfaces as well as blackened unglazed surfaces, both of which are the result of the unique low-firing technique. These specific pieces are created by intricately placing horse hair on the pieces while they are still hot resulting in the stunning crackled finish.
