Boheme Collection
Elements
Inspired by the Belgian design aesthetic, Bohème expresses the elegance of simplicity and the essence of comfort. Lyrical and intentional, Bohème offers a subtle array of three antique gray-white finishes, speaking to Belgium’s penchant for all things gray. A neutral palette of gray, blue, white and soft brown blends lyrically with an array of textures and shapes to create Bohème. The poetic beauty of each piece is unveiled in Bohème through texture, color, piece character and artistic shapes. Finishes in the furniture collection range from the nearly opaque Antique Milk Paint with a brush-painted effect, to two blue-toned finishes. Mercantile White is an antique gray-white on a medium sandblasted Poplar, and Grain Sack is linen with plaster applied on top to give the look of a plaster wall. All emanate from Belgium’s love affair with neutral gray palettes that many say come from the Belgian sky that is gray most of the year. The use of neutral blue tones is a requirement of Belgian design, and is expressed in Bohème through bold Merino Blue in a slate gray speckled rub-through finish, and Stonewash, an interplay of blue, white and gray on a finely textured surface.
Quality From Start To Finish
Of all the aspects of wood furniture, the finish most visibly reflects its character, quality and style. While the finish is one of the last things we do, it’s the first thing you see. That’s why at Hooker, we utilize a multiplestep finish process of up to 16 finish steps. This results in an unsurpassed clarity, depth and color richness and durability to our finishes. Through handcraftsmanship such as rubbing and padding, our finishes “feel” as good as they look, with a smoothness that is delightful to the touch.
Wood & Veneer Construction
Many of our furniture items are constructed of hardwood solids and veneers or hand-painted finishes over durable wood products such as medium density fiberboard (MDF) and particle board. MDF and particle board are used in quality furniture for areas that need to be stable, such as large surfaces. These durable wood products do not expand and contract with heat and cold and do not absorb moisture as much as solid wood, which results in stronger and longer-lasting furniture. Due to a wide variety of wood species and decorative designs used in our furniture styles, variations in construction are possible.
